Year 7 - 10
The "Alex and Me!" Program is a delivered to all Year 7 - 10 students at Alexandra Hills SHS by class teachers as part of our whole school Wellbeing Education Program. It is a context specific program that was developed after our involvement with the BeyondBlue research project which identified key specific needs of the students at Alexandra Hills State High School, and is updated regularly to meet the changing needs of our student community.
We are aware that students with high levels of wellbeing make better learners and that they not only demonstrate more effective academic and social behaviour but also generally engage in more appropriate behaviour at school and in the community. The "Alex & Me!" program has been designed to provide the psychological, social and emotional skills needed by students to succeed at school and in life.
The "Alex & Me!" program is delivered weekly on a Thursday morning and covers topics such as organisation, online safety and cyberbullying, respectful relationships, mental health, friendships, alcohol and how it is used in Australian society and recognising risks and planning for the future.
It is an important part of the school curriculum and is delivered by staff in a safe and supportive classroom environment using latest evidence, research and resources.
