As well as having 5 general computer labs available for all students, we have dedicated labs for Graphics, high end IT and coding subjects.
As a Centre of Excellence in Automation and Robotics we also have invested in additional specialised computer facilities to allow students, who study Technologies Subjects (ITD & IT), to explore and learn next generation technology skills in electronics, programming and automation. These computer labs are fitted with specialised technologies and software including a laser cutter and 3D printers. The Labs will enable teachers to deliver hands-on experiments and projects and extend the Innovative Technologies Curriculum based around Robotics, Automation & Coding. It will provide students with an environment that will allow creative and innovative design challenges to be developed almost seamlessly from imagination to concept and manufacture in a single location.
Mac Media Lab
We have a dedicated media lab equipped with the latest iMacs for the production of professional and creative multimedia and video content.
Media studies students are able to create short films, animation, music videos, multimedia presentations using industry software such as the Adobe Creative Cloud. Students from Year 8 - 12, Film Club, Health students and English students also have the use of our Mac Lab to create quality video and audio presentations as a part of their assessment.
The lab is also used to create marketing content, in-house presentations for the school.
Extended Experimental Investigation Room (EEI)
The Extended Experimental Investigation room is an additional laboratory space which has been a great asset to the Science department since its construction in 2008.
The fully equipped lab is available for use by the Senior Science students who undertake Extended Experimental Investigation as part of their assessment program in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering. The space allows students to set up and monitor their long term experiments without them being interfered with. The students have access to the lab during their breaks so that they can continue monitoring their experiments.
Over the years, we have managed to stock the lab with equipment to allow the students to conduct experiments which would normally not be undertaken at the school level. There have been experiments with DNA, many seeds have been germinated and nurtured to determine the best conditions of growth, the amount of caffeine in tea and coffee has been tested and bacterial cultures have been grown to test the effectiveness of cleaning products, just to name a few.
