​Term 3 2019

Welcome 25 Nichidai Tohoku HS students from Japan.

They will be with us until next Wednesday and  have already participated in a Japanese lesson with AHSHS students. They have more fun activities planned during their visit.

Term 3 2019

AHSHS welcomes 8 new International students.

They are from Norway, Italy, Germany and Japan. 

We hope they have a great Aussie experience during their time with us.

Term 2 2019

Swiss International Students Lucie and Leif did a wonderful presentation to fellow International Students and AHSHS staff about Switzerland.

They shared many interesting facts about their Country and culture.

After the presentation the students tasted some Traditional Swiss chocolate with warm Kopf (Brioche), which they then shared with our Principal Mrs Gail Armstrong.

Term 2 2019

Congratulations to Year 10 International Students for qualifying for and receiving Alexandra Hills SHS Quiet Achiever Award.

This award is given to students who are recognised as having outstanding behaviour and effort.

The Award was presented to the students today by our Principal, Mrs Gail Armstrong and Deputy Principal Mr Clinton Beutel.

Term 2 2019

Rintaro, AHSHS Year 11 International Student from Ikubunkan Global High School in Japan, shares this piece of music that he composed for his mother in Japan as a Mother's Day gift! His original piece is titled 'White Dahlia' .

Term 2 2019

In week three, AHSHS held our annual DASH – Cross country run combined with school fete.  This year the theme was Tropicanna. 

Our International students hosted their own stall.  Together they made and sold Pork Dumplings and Spring rolls.  Any profits were donated to our Student Council.

Term 1 2019

Congratulations to our Year 12 International Students for receiving their Senior badges.

Term 1 2019 

International Mentor Mina, went to Adelaide in February to represent Queensland at the 2019 Australian Beach Handball Championships. She played in a mixed team in the open league, for a team called the Raptors. They versed teams from all over Australia over four days.  Congratulations Mina.

In week three, our International students and their AHSHS buddies took part in a Surf Awareness Program at the Gold Coast, run by Surf Lifesaving Queensland.  The students participated in fun beach games and learned many aspects about beach safety.

Dreamworld - Term 3

This week, 48 International Students went on an excursion to Dreamworld.
They saw Australian flora and fauna and experienced Indigenous culture.

Farewell International Students -Term 2

We wish to bid farewell and good luck to those international students leaving us today. We hope that you have learned as much from AHSHS as we have learnt from you. It has been a pleasure having you as part of our school community. We wish you the very best for your futures and hope that you will be back to visit some day.

2018 Excursion - Thunderbird Park

AHSHS International students went on an Australian cultural excursion to Thunderbird Park on the Gold Coast.
 
They learnt archery skills, how to make damper,  played mini golf, watched lorikeet feeding and fossicked for thunder eggs.

International Student School Captain 2018

The Alexandra Hills SHS International team would like congratulate International Student, Edwin Wu, on successfully being elected as School Captain 2018.
Edwin joined us in Year 10, Semester two 2016 from Taiwan. He was AHSHS International Mentor in 2017 and then elected by his peers as first ever International School Captain 2018, along with Amber, Caitlyn and Thomas.

In week four, AHSHS held our annual DASH – Cross country run combined with school fete.  This year the theme was a colour run. 
Our International students hosted their own stall.  Together they made and sold; Pork Dumplings, Chinese Milk Tea, Swiss Tarts and Norwegian cinnamon rolls (Kanelsnurrer).  Any profits were donated to our Student Council.

2018 Term One excursion – Kirra Beach 

In week three, our International students took part in a Surf Awareness Program at the Gold Coast, run by Surf Lifesaving Queensland.  The students participated in fun beach games and learned many aspects about beach safety. 
It was a great day, especially as some of these students have not had the opportunity to get to a beach since arriving in Australia.
We would like to thank Scott and Kristy from Surf Life Saving Queensland for conducting such a fun and valuable program.  

2018 Urawa Study Tour

This term, we were fortunate to be the host to some students from Saitama Urawa Junior High School in Japan.  Forty students were treated to some interesting and unique Australian cultural experiences.  They enjoyed AHSHS flora and fauna, played cricket, futsal and volleyball and participated in other activities with their buddies.

They performed a Japanese and Australian song for us and most of all made some valuable friendships with our very own AHSHS students, who had been their ‘buddies’ for the duration of their stay.

2018  Study tour - Ashikaga Girls High School

In March, we hosted some students from Ashikaga Girls High School in Japan.  Nineteen students were treated to some interesting and unique Australian cultural experiences.  They enjoyed AHSHS flora and fauna, a martial arts lesson joined a hip hop dance lesson, participated in an Aboriginal Culture art lesson, performed a Japanese song and dance for us and most of all made some valuable friendships with our very own AHSHS students, who had been their ‘buddies’ for the duration of their stay.
