Alex & Me! Wellbeing Program
The "Alex and Me!" program is a student wellbeing program delivered to all students at Alexandra SHS by class teachers. Research shows that social and emotional learning promotes young people's academic success and engagement, good behaviour, cooperation with others and wellbeing.
The 'Alex & Me!' program provides students with many opportunities to further develop resilience, persistence and the life skills needed for success. We have an ongoing dedication to use the most up to date research, resources and activities to ensure a quality program based on student needs.
In years 7-10, topics covered in "Alex and Me!" include organisation and time management, respectful relationships, friendships, e-Safety and cyberbullying, mental health, alcohol and other drugs – recognising risks, careers and planning for the future.
In years 11-12, students improve their digital literacy and complete units of work investigating the physical, mental and legal effects of alcohol and related violence, mental health and respectful relationships and domestic violence. Valuable guest speakers from our community (Police, Ambulance, Fire, Red Frogs, RACQ) also play an important role in our senior wellbeing program.
The HUB
Hub appointments
To meet with HUB staff, students need to either book in an appointment with the individual Staff member or be referred. Parents/Guardians are invited to contact HUB staff for support and guidance when necessary.
Students can access Hub staff by visiting the Hub before and after school or during breaks. During this time students can also make appointments scheduled during class time by filling out an appointment slip.
