Online Safety for parents and carers

Parental guidance and support regarding online safety is important, but finding reliable and up to date information can sometimes be difficult and time consuming.

This page has been built specifically for parents and carers and covers some of the key online safety issues for young people. On this page you will find up to date information, resources and practical tips and advice that will help parents and carers tackle online safety concerns and issues.

Office of eSafety Commissioner

The Office of eSafety Commissioner is an independent statutory office supported by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). This website contains resources, guides and advice on esafety for parents and young people.

Kids Helpline

Kids Helpline provides free and confidential online and phone counselling to young people aged 5 to 25. It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

eHeadspace

eheadspace provides free online and telephone support and counselling to young people 12 - 25 and their families and friends. It is available 9am to 1am (Melbourne time), 7 days a week.

Support for parents

Each state or territory has a dedicated Parentline that offers counselling, information and a referral service. Opening hours vary by state.
