Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is a program where students bring their privately owned laptop or tablet to school and connect it to the school's network. BYOD supports the delivery of 21st Century Learning and recognises the demand for seamless movement between school and home.
Alexandra Hills SHS has compulsory BYOD for all students:
Laptop or IPad - Required (Laptops are preferred)
| Laptop only - Required
|
Laptops
have an expected lifespan of 3 - 4 years. In years 10-12, some subjects require a
“premium level” laptop. Please refer to the “BYOD requirements 9-12” guide on
the school website
Families with a device that is less than 4 years old are encouraged to bring it to school and see if connection can occur, before having to purchase another device. Older devices may have issues with battery life.
The school has special arrangements available
for students who are not able to purchase a BYOD. Applications for special
arrangements must be made to the year-level Deputy Principal or Guidance
Officer
Minimum Device Requirements
Please check the BYOD requirement guides (one the right of this page) to make sure you have a suitable learning device.
Warranty & Accidental Damage Protection
We strongly recommend that all personal electronic devices are insured against accidental damage, loss and theft. You can either include the BYOD on your home and contents insurance or contact an insurer that offers specific cover for student devices.
