Last night,7/9/2022, at Mansfield State High School, the Alexandra Hills State High School year 7 team defeated Canterbury College. It was a particularly great win for two reasons. Firstly, Canterbury College has not been defeated all season and secondly it was a closed room short prep debate. This is the hardest debate possible where the team is given the topic and retired to a room with no internet and no adult support. There, they plan their points and speeches and write them in only one hour. I was so impressed with the quality and sophistication of their speeches. The parents present, were delighted and proud of their accomplishment as were the girl themselves.
